--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this lesson, the theme we will be learning is "Where are you from?"
Whereby we will learn a few phrases when it comes to asking others where are they from, how to answer them and also learn a few nationalities and countries in Malay. :)

1. Where are you from? - Awak dari mana?
("dari" means from, "mana" means where)
2. I'm from ... . - Saya dari ... .
    - I'm from Malaysia. - Saya dari Malaysia.
3. England - England (Yes, it's the same :) )
    - I'm from England. I'm English. - Saya dari England. Saya orang Inggeris.
("orang" means person, "Inggeris" means English)

Note: So, when it comes to stating the nationality of a person, the word "orang" is usually added in front of the country. Since in Malay, there is no special word to differentiate country and nationality.

For example: Malaysian - orang Malaysia

                    Italian - orang Itali
                    Indian - orang India
                    Singaporean - orang Singapura

4. Italy - Itali
    - My friend is from Italy. He is Italian. - Kawan saya dari Itali. Dia orang Itali.
5. France - Perancis
    - My friend is from France. His parents are French. - Kawan saya dari Perancis. Ibubapanya adalah orang Perancis.
("Ibubapa" means parents, "Ibu" means mother, "bapa" means father)
6. Spain - Sepanyol
    - My colleague is from Spain. She is Spanish. - Rakan sekerja saya dari Sepanyol. Dia adalah orang Sepanyol.
7. Germany - Jerman
    - The women are from Germany. They are Germans. - Wanita - wanita itu dari Jerman. Mereka adalah orang Jerman.

Note: If it is a plural noun,
          For example: women
The noun is repeated twice in Malay.
          For example: woman - wanita
                               women - wanita-wanita
                               man - lelaki
                               men - lelaki-lelaki
                               book - buku
                               books - buku-buku

8. Brazil - Brazil (Yes, still the same :) )
   - We are Brazilians. - Kami orang Brazil. / Kita orang Brazil.
9. Turkey - Turki
     - They are from Turkey. Are you Turkish? - Mereka dari Turki. Adakah awak orang Turki?
10. United States of America - Amerika Syarikat
   - Your mother is from America. Is your dad from America too? - Ibu awak dari Amerika. Adakah ayah awak dari Amerika juga?
